Referral Information for the Sexual Offenders Program

Referrals
Referrals are accepted from juvenile courts and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (WVDHHR).

Evaluation materials will be requested if the adolescent appears to meet admission criteria. Once the referral information is received an interview will be scheduled.

A referral may be made one of three ways:

Referral information should include:

Age of the adolescent male (13 to 17)
A psychological evaluation completed within the last year
IQ information.
Previous placement summaries (progress and discharge information)
Court summaries
Sexual offense history or offense(s) accusations
Any historical information

Interview
Upon receipt of the referral a date and time will be arranged to meet with the client for a face-to-face interview. The client may come to Chestnut Ridge Center or our staff is willing to travel to his current placement. Following the interview and results of the Abel Assessment, a summary with recommendations will be faxed to the referral source.

Admission Procedures

An MCM1 must be completed and sent to WVMI for approval.
Client must be adjudicated.
A court order must be issued to place the client at Chestnut Ridge Center. The court order needs to include a statement that requires the teen to complete the treatment program.

Duration of Program
18 to 24 months.
