Neurosurgery
WVU's Department of Neurosurgery includes highly skilled surgeons at the forefront of new techniques in cranial
base surgery, advanced stroke care, epilepsy surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, and pain and
functional disorders. Patients can benefit from advanced new treatments, including clinical trials. Our pediatric
neurosurgeon provides specialized care for children and adolescents needing neurosurgery. Gamma Knife Radiosurgery is also available.

Cancer Treatment
WVU's Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center offers advanced treatment for cancer, with recognized excellence in
women's cancer programs. All standard treatments -- including radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery -- are available.
Also available are blood and marrow transplantation, radiation therapy, and clinical trials. Advanced technology
includes two linear accelerators.
Heart Surgery
Another area of recognized prominence at WVU Hospitals is heart surgery, for both children and adults.
The specialists at WVU Hospitals provide advanced, specialized care for adults and children needing heart
surgery to repair a wide variety of congenital defects and other heart problems.

Eye Care
The West Virginia University Eye Institute provides the latest treatments for vision problems and eye
disorders -- including retinal disorders, thyroid eye disease, cataracts, glaucoma, and others. The Institute
offers a wide variety of surgical and non-surgical treatments, including automated lamellar therapeutic
keratoplasty, a new cornea transplantation procedure.
Advanced Medical Imaging
WVU's Center for Advanced Imaging offers state-of-the-art medical imaging equipment that helps specialists
diagnose and treat problems with a high degree of accuracy. This equipment includes PET and 3-Tesla MRI,
twice as powerful as typical MRIs.
