Surgery for Obesity

A Big Change

At WVU, three experienced surgeons perform surgery for obesity. They offer a broad range of options, including gastric bypass, Lap Band and minimally invasive approaches.

Our techniques produce successful weight loss in most patients, and also improve obesity-related conditions such as diabetes, heart and lung problems, arthritis, high-blood pressure, sleep apnea and others.

Out team includes dieticians, clinical psychologists, physical therapists and others who work with each patient before, during and after surgery. A plastic surgeon can help deal with excess skin and other consequences of successful weight loss.

To be a candidate for obesity surgery at WVU you need to be seriously overweight and be highly motivated to permanently change your lifestyle.
