WVU Special Series — Women in Healthcare
Honoring Women Healthcare Professionals
The West Virginia University School of Medicine is proud to host the traveling exhibit Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America’s Women Physicians.
The exhibit, sponsored by the American Library Association and the National Library of Medicine, will be open to the public at the Health Sciences Campus October 18 to December 8, 2006.
The exhibit has been a catalyst for the development of an exciting series of public programs at the Health Sciences Center and several other locations on campus. These programs will highlight the contributions of women health professionals, and also reach out to the public with information about health issues and careers for women in healthcare.
Except where noted, all events are open to the public. Events marked with an asterisk require reservations.
Women healthcare professionals at West Virginia University have made an incalculable impact on generations of patients and students, as well as everyone who benefits from health-care research. Their impact has rippled outward through the University, the community, the state, and far beyond.
At WVU, women have been brilliant clinicians, institutional leaders, inspired teachers and important researchers. They have elevated the quality of education in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and dentistry. They have served as mentors and role models. They have led ambitious programs to bring the benefits of modern healthcare to people in their communities. Directly and indirectly, they have enhanced the health of many millions of people, saving countless lives.
While the traveling exhibit focuses on women physicians, WVU is celebrating the larger community of women professionals who have contributed to every healthcare field.
