Entangled

Entangled

To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded - Ralph Waldo Emerson

This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson reminds us of how powerful priceless gifts make in our lives.  To laugh. To cherish our friends. To appreciate beauty. To leave the world better. To change a life.  Not gifts without. Gifts within.

I am reminded of the starfish story.  One day a young boy was walking down the beach and noticed that a large number of starfish washed up on the beach.

He started to throw the fish one-by-one back into the ocean.  An older gentleman walking down the beach noticed the boy and said, laughing that the boy was wasting his time throwing the starfish back into the ocean.

“There are too many. You will never get all those starfish back into the ocean”, said the man.  “Maybe not” said the boy, “but for the ones that I do it will make a big difference”.

This story is a metaphor that we can always help the person in front of us.  Since we are all energy beings and quantum physics teaches us that when things are connected or entangled, affecting one part affects all parts.

Thus, I believe that like a stone into the water, our good deeds, our caring, our helping, our loving each other reverberates well beyond the single act of kindness.

The way to change the world may not be by affecting populations.

Instead, it may be the simple kindnesses that help the person right in front of you.

Which we are all capable of each day.

Almost heaven.
