COMMUNITY PRACTICE
Binu Chacko, MD is a new primary care physician with the WVU Medicine Community Practice division. He was most recently the Chair of the Department of Medicine at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD.

HEART AND VASCULAR INSTITUTE
Sudarshan Balla, MD joins the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute’s non-invasive cardiology service. He was formerly at the University of Missouri as Director of the Heart Valve Clinic.
Ted Friehling, MD is the new Director of Electrophysiology at the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute. He held the same position at Inova Heart and Vascular Institute, Fairfax, VA.

MEDICINE
Smita Mathur, DO joins the Department of Medicine as a hospitalist. Her former hospitalist position was with Camden Clark Medical Center.
Elizabeth May, MD, PhD joins the Department of Medicine’s section of digestive diseases. Her academic career includes faculty positions at Morehouse School of Medicine, Mercer University, Wayne State University, and Case Western Reserve.
Sanaz Soltani, MD joins the Department of Medicine having completed hematology/oncology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

ORTHOPAEDICS
Rusty Cain, DPM joins the Department of Orthopaedics’ podiatry service at the Fairmont Gateway Clinic. Dr. Cain is well-known in North Central WV having had a successful career at Doctors Foot Center in Fairmont.

PEDIATRICS
Viral Kothari, MD joins the Department of Pediatrics Pulmonology Division. He was an attending physician at Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Specialists, and completed a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine at Baylor.
