President and CEO receives American Hospital Association's Grassroots Champion Award

President and CEO Albert L. Wright, Jr. (center), receives the Grassroots Champion Award from WVHA representatives.

Albert L. Wright, Jr., president and CEO, WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals and WVU Medicine-West Virginia University Health System, has received the American Hospital Association's (AHA's) Grassroots Champion Award.

The award recognizes those hospital leaders who:

  • Educate elected officials on how major issues affect the hospital’s vital role in the community

  • Have done an exemplary job in broadening the base of community support for the hospital

  • Are tireless advocates for hospitals and their patients

Wright is currently serving as treasurer of the West Virginia Hospital Association (WVHA). He’ll serve as chair in 2020-2021.
