Service Awards ceremony canceled due to pandemic
Because of the ever-changing and unpredictable nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, WVU Medicine has decided to cancel this year’s Service Awards ceremony, which had been rescheduled to this fall.
A message from Albert L. Wright, Jr., president and CEO of the West Virginia University Health System:
Dear Honored WVU Medicine Employees,
First and foremost, thank you for your years of dedicated service to our patients. Thanks to you, we are able to provide world-class care to patients from across the state and region. It is impossible to deliver that care without world-class employees, and we are honored that you have chosen to use your talents at WVU Medicine.
Each year, we gather at our Service Awards celebration to recognize employees like you who reach milestones in their careers. I look forward to this event every year, as it gives me the opportunity to say an in-person “thank you” to the people who are at the heart of the work we do every day.
Unfortunately, due to the ever-changing and unpredictable nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Service Awards.
Please know that you will still receive the congratulatory gifts, and they still come with our heartfelt appreciation for you and the work that you have done during your time at WVU Medicine. We just won’t be able to deliver that message in person, as we have in years past.
Instead, as a token of our appreciation, you will be mailed a congratulatory package filled with items similar to what you would have received at the ceremony, and your name and years of service will be posted on Connect alongside your fellow milestone awardees. In addition, employees who have been with us for 40 or more years will be recognized in a special video that will be made in their honor.
Again, thank you for everything you do to make our organization a success, and congratulations on reaching this milestone.
