Pearls Conference 2025 is an accredited CME event hosted by the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the WVU Eye Institute.

Conference Details:

  • Registration / Breakfast / Welcome Announcements: 7:30 - 8 a.m.
  • Lectures: 8 - Noon (including breaks)
  • Lunch: Noon. - 1 p.m.
  • Lectures (continued): 1 - 5 p.m. (including breaks)
  • Conference Adjourned: 5 p.m.

A reception will be held for those planning to attend Pearls Conference 2025 at Flour and Feed, located at 156 Clay Street in Morgantown, on Friday, April 11, from 6-8 p.m.

  • Analyze outside-the-box approaches to diagnosing and treating oculoplastic diseases
  • Identify patients who are at the highest risk for retinal detachment
  • Analyze approaches to retinal detachment repair
  • Identify the outcomes after ROP detachment
  • Name three mechanisms of tearing
  • Determine primary and secondary causes of NLDO
  • Describe research on the prevention of radioactive iodine included NLDO
  • Identify presenting features of IIH in the pediatric age group
  • Identify pediatric IIH
  • Explain the basics of the management of IIH in children
  • Examine the approach to cataract surgery in eyes with Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy
  • Determine when to perform combined EK and cataract surgery
  • Describe in what conditions fluorescein be prioritized
  • Explain how fluorescein can change management in retinal disorders
  • Describe the need for surgery and indications for surgery in Nystagmus
  • Explain the different surgical approaches for cases in Nystagmus
  • Describe Keratoconus and the social determinants of health that affect care
  • Explain emerging treatments for KCN
  • Describe ocular toxicities associated with various anti-cancer therapies
  • Examine the various categories of anti-cancer treatments, focusing on their mechanisms of action and the ocular toxicities associated with each
  • Describe management strategies for treating cancer therapy associated with adverse ocular effects
  • Describe how nutrition can affect intraocular pressure and glaucoma incidence
  • Explain the influence of exercise and stress reduction on glaucoma
  • Identify developing literature on systemic medications and supplement use in glaucoma

CME Credit:

The WVU School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The WVU Office of CME designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
