The annual Gordon A. Bergy Lecture will feature guest speaker Dr. David Rogers, PharmD, Ph.D., FCCP.

Sponsored by Rho Chi, Dr. David Rogers's will present the lecture "Lessons Learned (so far) in the Life of an Academic Clinical Pharmacist and Biomedical Scientist."

Dr. Dave Rogers is the Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. Dr. Rogers career transitioned from a clinical pharmacist to a world-renowned researcher and leader of an elite pharmacy unit at the St. Jude Children's Hospital. Before joining St. Jude, Dr. Rogers was the First Tennessee Endowed Chair of Excellence in Clinical Pharmacy and Pediatrics and is Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science and of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Rogers earned a Pharm.D. Degree from the University of Tennessee and then worked as a clinical pharmacist at the University of Virginia Hospitals in Charlottesville, VA. He then completed an ASHP-accredited Residency in Pharmacy Practice at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis, as well as an ASHP-accredited Residency in Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Practice and Fellowship in Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Subsequently, he completed a M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Mississippi.

Dr. Rogers is an elected Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and has served on the Board of Directors of the ACCP Research Institute and the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists. He currently serves as a member of the NIH Drug Discovery and Mechanisms of Antimicrobial Resistance Study Section.

Dr. Rogers’ research is supported through grants from associations, industry, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Rogers’ research is supported through grants from associations, industry, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). His research program has been continuously funded by NIH for two decades, and he currently serves as principal investigator for two NIH R01 grants. He has authored over 120 publications, and 190 scientific abstracts to date. The focus of his research program is on systemic antifungal drug resistance.
