Our patient-centered approach puts your needs first.
From the moment you come to our Center, we want you to feel comfortable. We encourage you to ask questions and share all of your body image concerns with us. If you have questions about costs and risks involved with your procedure, we will explain everything in detail to help you make informed decisions. To help you, we've included a list of questions you might want to bring along to ask your doctor.
Your first visit
During your first visit, your doctor will assess your physical condition. We will need to know whether you smoke and if you are taking any medications or herbal supplements. (Even simple medications like aspirin can affect blood clotting.) The surgeon will ask about any medical condition that might cause complications during or after surgery, such as high blood pressure, blood clotting issues, or diabetes.
Smoking prevents blood flow to the skin, which could potentially interfere with healing. If you smoke, it's essential that you stop smoking for a minimum of one to two weeks before and after your surgery.
We will also ask what you hope to achieve by having cosmetic surgery, and what you think the desired results should look like. If you come to us with realistic motivations and expectations, our professional staff will help you to meet your goals.
If you will be having surgery, we will give you guidelines about preparing for your procedure. Factors such as the anesthesia we will be using will determine what you need to do to prepare. The plan we give you will list what you may eat and drink prior to your procedure, and it will include medications and food supplements that you will need to avoid. By committing yourself to the plan, you are doing your part to ensure that your experience with us goes smoothly.
