OUTLaw Lunch and Learn: WV v. B.P.J. with the WV State Bar’s LGBTQ+ Committee

Time

Location

We are excited to partner with and support the WVU College of Law’s student organization OUTLaw, in collaboration with the West Virginia State Bar’s LGBTQ+ Committee, as they host a lunch and learn discussion about how one (transgender) girl’s fight to run cross-country in Harrison County, West Virginia landed before the U.S. Supreme Court. This event will be able to provide students, faculty, and staff with an opportunity to learn from attorneys in our state who can explain how the industry of law aligns with societal needs.

This Lunch and Learn will take place on February 17th, 2026 from 12pm-1pm in Room 153 at the WVU College of Law, as well as on Zoom. Those attending in person will be provided lunch, and all are encouraged to come with curiosity. Attorneys from the State Bar will talk about the history of the case, the relevant law, and what this case could mean for future transgender athletes. Attendees will be able to engage in policy discussion, learn about court proceedings, and see the ways in which policy affects the everyday lives of the individuals.
