Dr. Clay Marsh wishes gratitude and abundance for 2025

To my Health Science Center Colleagues,
The years pass quickly, and it is hard to believe that we are about to celebrate 2025. Given the holidays are quickly approaching, as is the new year, I want to offer a few thoughts and express my gratitude for all you do - individually and collectively.
We are all a part of infinite cycles of time and change. A quote attributed to Darwin reflected that it wasn’t the strongest or most intelligent species that survives, but instead, the species that is the most adaptable to change. That should be our mantra in our own lives, too. Because change is inevitable and constant.
Every day more information is being produced. This increasing repository of information is mirrored by increasing amounts of energy or disorder in our world. More disorder is felt as the constantly growing number of entities vie for our attention - politically, socially, culturally and physically in our world. It is loud for all of us.
We often seek refuge in more intimate, quieter environments like our family, friends or homes. Balancing connecting to the part of our life that brings us joy and happiness, while avoiding the noise that also surrounds can be challenging.
In this new year, I offer a few thoughts.
There is only the now moment, that is why it is called “present”. When you have thoughts of regret for the past and/or anxiety about the future, you do so in the present moment. The past is gone, and the future is a concept. We only have the “now”. It has been postulated that the world refreshes constantly at the Planck time (ten to minus 44 seconds). In this scenario, our life experiences are a constant thread of new moments, as the frames of a film give us the experience of continuous motion. So, if you want to change yourself or embrace more of your life, start now.
Don’t miss the wonderment and magic of the moment with the people you love. There is really no other time. See and smell the roses you pass every day. Open your eyes, and really see. Tell your family how much you love them. See the miracles that make up your life.
We are all intimately connected and are part of a greater whole. Three scientists won the Nobel Prize for their observation on quantum entanglement. This observation was based on a previous discovery by Einstein and colleagues. If you cut an electron in half or take two entangled photons of light and separate these two parts across space and time (up to light years apart) and activate one part, the other activates at a rate faster than the speed of light. Every time.
This observation literally suggests we are all connected, part of a single thing. Rumi, the Sufi poet, reflected this when he said, “the lamps are different, but the light is the same. One matter, one energy, one Light, one Light-mind, endlessly emanating all things.” It is also notable that the root word of health – heal, holy and holistic – means “whole” or all together.
Before criticizing others, remember, every experience with another person provides a mirror to understanding yourself. That is why the only way to truly receive is to give from your heart. It is also the reason why the best way to change the world for the better is to start with you.
Quantum physics tells us that we live in a sea of energy. In fact, the famous physicist David Bohm reminds us that if we take a cubic centimeter of the air that surrounds us at the Planck scale (ten to minus 35 meters), in that air will exist more energy than is contained in the total mass of the universe. Einstein tells us that energy and mass are interchangeable terms. Thus, we are energy beings living in a seething sea of energy. It is mind-bending to think that the space in the room we are sitting is constructing the objects and walls, as opposed to our usual sense that the walls create the space in the room.
Why is this important? Because there is data from quantum physics that we interact within this energy to transform it from a multi-potential state (a waveform) to a coherent, collapsed state (particle) by observing it. This observation is called wave-particle duality. Rumi said, “Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion”. This data reflects our powerful creative abilities and also reminds us that energy is neither created nor destroyed. Since we are energy at our core, we cannot be destroyed, either.
If we are participating in creating our tangible world, we should do so from a place of love, abundance and service.
The work we each get to do is noble. Helping others. Serving others. Creating a healing world for ourselves, our families and our community - local, national, global.
During this holiday time and looking forward to the new year, let’s make our lives, our community, and our professions the best possible. Returning to our healing roots. Us first and then the people we are privileged to help. Finding the magic of our professions.
I wish you Happy Holidays and a prosperous new year where you fully experience life in every moment, sense the deep connection between all of us, and focus on the gratitude and abundance that lives in each one of us and in all of us. Let’s create a better world starting with ourselves.
Warmly,
Clay
