I am the first person in my family to pursue and earn a doctoral degree! I wouldn’t have made it through without the support of my family and friends. I’m so blessed that I got to do it here in my home state at WVU!
Congratulations graduates! We hope you enjoyed the commencement ceremonies, whether you were watching the livestream from home, or you were joining us in-person on campus.

Public health to me is primary prevention as its the science and practice of improving the health of all communities. This field focuses on populations rather than at an individual level.
If you’re not sure what exactly public health is or what you want to study, be sure to check it out. There are so many different career avenues this major can take you to!
The reason I chose WVU School of Nursing is because I have a few family members who are WVU SON alumni, and they have spoken highly of the education they were provided. I specifically chose the Potomac State campus because I am from a very small town, so I enjoy the tight-knit atmosphere that the Keyser Campus nursing program provides.
I knew public health was the right fit when I got my internship through the WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital and immediately realized it was the type of work I always envisioned doing.
