Foundations of Health Care Leadership: Four-Part Microcredential Pathway
You value your role as a member of a health care team that impacts the lives of patients every day, and you want to take the next step to moving your career forward in the growing health care industry. This is an opportunity to learn the skills and techniques to advance in health care leadership and administration. Learn from professionals with extensive experience and hear how they have navigated their career journeys.
Participants can complete the entire four-part, fully online course to earn a microcredential in the Foundations of Health Care Leadership and receive a digital badge and certificate that can be displayed on your career profile site and resume. For maximum flexibility, you can also choose the courses you are most interested in and earn a badge for each module upon completion.
This microcredential pathway is offered in partnership by West Virginia University Health Sciences and the WVU Mountaineer Micro Academy.
Course Options Include:
Workplace Environment - Focused on practical strategies to enhance employee productivity, satisfaction and retention as a leader.
Strategic Communication - Emphasizes an understanding of communication as a science, and skills needed to interact with diverse audiences, lead teams through change and facilitate conflict resolution.
Strategic Planning - Introduces the learner to the essentials of a structured planning process that’s relevant in any leadership role.
Finance 101 - Equips learners with a basic understanding of clinical care and academic finance models to increase your ability to lead in settings with the exciting intersection of clinical care, research and education.

This course is ideal for administrative and allied health professionals, health care focused trainees, and emerging leaders in finance, communication, or any health system infrastructure role.
What is the cost to participate?
This course is FREE for any WVU student. Courses are $200 each for participants outside of WVU. The cost is $125 per course for WVU-affiliated faculty and $75 per course for WVU-affiliated staff. WVU-affiliated participants must contact leadmicro@hsc.wvu.edu to receive a discount coupon prior to registration.
