Suicide Prevention

The WVU ICRC collaborated with Healthy Harrison, a non-profit health coalition located in Clarksburg, WV, to implement and evaluate the World Health Organization's (WHO) Community Engagement for Suicide Prevention Toolkit. The WVU ICRC was one of four sites across the globe selected to collaborate with the WHO in a field-based evaluation of this new initiative. Working with Healthy Harrison and a select group of 16 community representatives, the WVU ICRC worked through each phase of the newly developed toolkit to identify potential barriers and facilitators to toolkit implementation on a larger scale. Findings from the pilot assessment included recommendations to increase partnership with representatives from at-risk populations and the identification of resources to support action items recommended by participants. The WHO Suicide Prevention Toolkit is available for use.
