Department of Medicine launches Camp Med for high school students

The Department of Medicine is launching Camp Med, a new summer initiative designed to introduce rising 11th and 12th grade students from rural West Virginia to careers in healthcare. Through an immersive, week‑long camp experience, students will explore the world of medicine while building confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging in healthcare professions. Camp Med will host two sessions, each with up to 16 students.

Supporters of the camp are encouraged to participate in the Sponsor-a-Camper initiative, which allows individuals and organizations to contribute toward the cost of a student's experience. Approximately $1,500 can sponsor one student for the week, with smaller donations also making a difference.
