In case you had not yet thought about it, Christmas is less than 100 days away!
WVU Hospitals (WVUH) established the Employee Holiday Assistance Program more than 25 years ago to assist WVUH employees in providing holiday cheer for eligible dependent children from birth to age 13.
Many departments and employees have enriched the holidays for these children with their generosity over the years. Last year, the program supported 121 children from 73 families.
To participate in the 2022 program, employees should complete an application and submit it, along with a “wish list” for each child, to Care Management. Applications, due Friday, Oct. 28, are reviewed for eligibility prior to matching the children with sponsors.
Here are more details:
- In addition to applications being available on CONNECT, they'll be available in the Care Management starting Oct. 3.
- Applicants are instructed to include needed items, in addition to “fun” items.
- The wish lists will be available for sponsors on Nov. 7.
- The recommended spending allowance is $200-$225 per child.
- Sponsors should make sure all items are new and do not have the department/sponsor identified on them.
- Items are not to be wrapped. Please include new wrapping paper, bags, bows etc.
- The drop-off location for gifts is the Bruce McClymonds Conference Center (Side B) from 7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Drop-off dates for sponsors' gifts are Dec. 5-6 ONLY.
- Gift recipients will be contacted to pick up items the week of Dec. 5-9 in the Bruce McClymonds Conference Center (Side B) from 7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m..
Attached is the sponsor form for employees and departments wishing to sponsor a child. Please return form by Oct. 28 so that children can be paired with sponsors.
