Kimberly Meigh, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, will serve as the interim chair of the WVU School of Medicine Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders, effective July 1.
“I’m honored to take on the role of interim chair and look forward to working alongside my outstanding colleagues to support our shared mission of excellence in education, research and service, and to build on the strengths of our division,” Meigh said.
Meigh joined WVU in 2014. She is currently an associate professor as well as the clinical coordinator for the WVU Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic, where she oversees the day-to-day operations of the clinic. Meigh specializes in the evaluation and treatment of individuals with acquired speech-language and cognitive disorders, voice disorders and developmental speech disorders.
Previously, she served as the undergraduate Program Coordinator for the Division from 2022-2023. Within the Department of Human Performance at the WVU School of Medicine, she served as chair of the Promotion and Tenure Committee.
During her time at WVU, Meigh has been recognized with the 2023 Distinguished Teacher Award (Professional Degree Junior Level) through the School of Medicine, the 2019 WVU Foundation Outstanding Teaching Award and the 2018 Outstanding Teaching Award in the College of Education and Human Services.
As a clinical provider with WVU Medicine, Meigh enjoys being part of the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute Concussion/TBI clinics.
Meigh earned her Bachelor of Arts in Audiology and Speech Sciences from Michigan State University, her Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her PhD in Communication Science and Disorders from the University of Pittsburgh.
Meigh fills the position vacated by Jayne Brandel, who served as the department’s chair since 2016. Brandel has accepted the position of dean of the School of Health and Medical Sciences at Seton Hall University. A reception will be held on Thursday, June 25, from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the HSC Pylons Lobby to honor Brandel.
A national search for a permanent chair for Communication Sciences and Disorders will be conducted.
The Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders is comprised of three programs, including Audiology (AuD), Communication Sciences and Disorders (BS) and Speech-Language Pathology (MS).
