As part of an upcoming American Cancer Society webinar, a faculty member in the West Virginia University School of Dentistry has been selected to give a presentation related to the organization’s tobacco control initiatives.
M. Suann Gaydos, MSDH, professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene and director of the Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program, will present “From Progress to Pushback: CHWs Tackling the New Wave of Youth Nicotine Use,” on Friday, Feb. 24, at Noon.
Registration will be available beginning Jan. 26.
Gaydos, a West Virginia native and two-time graduate of WVU, has been a faculty member at the School of Dentistry for nearly two decades. Working closely with colleague Dr. Susan Morgan, Gaydos was instrumental in the development of the Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program at WVU, the first program of its type to be housed within a dental school.
Throughout her career, Gaydos has been involved with several initiatives to promote the dental hygiene profession and oral healthcare and education.
Her presentation is part of a series titled “Equipping Community Health Workers for Community Impact,” and she will be joined on the session by Kellie Lamb, senior program manager for tobacco control at the American Cancer Society.
