Volunteer Services collecting items for patients Aug. 10-26

The Volunteer Services patient activity program is designed to help meet the psychosocial and emotional needs of patients during their hospitalization at WVU Hospitals. It helps to minimize stress, anxiety, and boredom.

Employees who are back-to-school shopping, please think about picking up some extra items for patients. Patients enjoy having the opportunity to choose different activities when the activities cart comes to their floor.

Here is a list of items sought: crayons, colored pencils, markers, pencils, pens, pencil sharpeners, playing cards, coloring books, word search books, stress balls, crossword books, sudoku puzzles, fidget spinners, and playdough.

The drive is being held from Aug. 10-26.

Items can be dropped off at the main entrance of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital or at the Volunteer Services office located on the first floor of Ruby.

For more information, please contact Kita Taylor, activities coordinator, at 304-598-4000, ext. 79453, or marquita.taylor@wvumedicine.org.
