WVU School of Nursing Morgantown, Bridgeport grads earn 100% first-time licensure pass rate in 2025

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — The West Virginia University School of Nursing Class of 2025 graduates from the Morgantown Campus Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program have earned a 100% first-time pass rate on their National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN), the nationwide licensing examination for registered nurses.

“Having all 122 graduates from the BSN program in Morgantown pass the NCLEX on their first attempt is an incredible accomplishment,” said Dr. Tara Hulsey, Dean and E. Jane Martin Endowed Professor. “This achievement underscores not only the quality of our educators, but the dedication of our students to the profession.”

Additionally, all 2025 graduates from the Bridgeport Campus Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) earned a 100% first-time pass rate on their NCLEX exam for the second year in a row. Across all campus locations, graduates earned an average 94.4% first-time pass rate. The official results from National Council of State Boards of Nursing are as follows:

“Our pass rates are always well above the state benchmark of 80%,” said Dr. Brad Phillips, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs. “First-time pass rates on the NCLEX are an excellent indicator of student preparedness, and our goal is to always ensure our students across all our campus locations are well-prepared to provide safe, high-quality patient care.”

The BSN program is a traditional four-year degree offered on the Beckley, Keyser and Morgantown campus locations of the WVU School of Nursing. The ABSN program, offered on the Bridgeport and Morgantown campuses, is an 18-month accelerated program for current bachelor’s degree holders who wish to become baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses.
