Employees from WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals raised $206,867 this year for the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties, surpassing the goal of $150,000, according to WVUH officials.
The money raised benefits local organizations and crucial services in both counties and came in the face of a global COVID-19 pandemic, which took a financial and emotional toll on some families.
In total, the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties raised $1,236,801 -- 108 percent of the campaign goal.
