Beckley Student Nurses’ Association scores for strong Career Mentorship participation

The WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus Student Nurses’ Association was recently awarded for their strong turnout at the WVU Tech Career Mentorship Event.

The third annual Career Mentorship Event, presented by the Tech Golden Bear Alumni Association and WVU Tech Career Development, allows students to connect with alumni worldwide who share advice and support in small break-out rooms with current students. The event includes discussions around careers, professional development, and more.

Because 18 SNA members attended the event, more than any other student organization, they were awarded $250. The SNA utilized the prize to support their annual Thanksgiving basket project.

“We focus on providing Thanksgiving meals to those in need within our community,” shared Kelly Morton, a nursing faculty member and an alumni mentor at the event. “The funds will be used to purchase ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving feast, enabling us to prepare and distribute wholesome meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity.”

She added, “This initiative will not only address immediate hunger but also foster a sense of community and well-being during the Thanksgiving season. Additionally, any remaining funds will be allocated to support ongoing health-related outreach projects, creating a holistic impact on the overall welfare of the community we serve.”
