Experienced surgeon, author and lecturer joins WVU dental school

Dr. Eber Stevao joins the oral and maxillofacial surgery department

Dr. Eber StevaoMORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Eber Stevao, DDS, EdS, PhD, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon has joined the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the West Virginia University School of Dentistry as assistant professor.

Dr. Stevao earned his doctorate of dental surgery from Pontiff Catholic University of Parana State School of Dentistry where he also earned an advanced education specialist degree from the School of Superior Education. The native of Brazil completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 1997 at Pontiff Catholic University of RGS State School of Dentistry. From 1996 through 1999, he completed a doctorate in oral and maxillofacial surgery receiving at PhD from Pontiff Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul State school of Dentistry.

From 2016 through 2023 Dr. Stevao was an invited oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Elisabeth-Stiftung Hospital in Birkenfeld, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany and at Professor Dr. Dr. Peter M. Maurer Praxisklinik in Sankt Wendel, Saarland, Germany.

In addition to three other published text-books, Dr. Stevao wrote, edited and published the very first illustrative text-book about TMJ Surgery in Portuguese which was launched at the ASTMJ Meeting in 2014, Chicago, Illinois.

He joined the faculty at WVU School of Dentistry on February 12.
