HSC Tip of the Day: Phishing
Phishing is a technique where someone will send you a email pretending to be someone they are not in order to gain information. It may be an email that appears to come from a bank, WVU, WVUH, etc. They will ask for personal information like your password, bank account information or credit card numbers.
They may say something along the lines of you need to click on this link and fill out the info or your account will be disabled for inactivity or we are just updating our records and want to make sure we have your current information. It may appear to come from a legitamite source but if you look at the address it will not be correct. A @hsc.wvu.edu email might should as @hs.wvu.edu or an @mail.wvu.edu email may show as @wvu.edu.
