Keyser Campus Chair invited to participate in Women’s “HerStory” Panel

Dr. April Shapiro, WVU School of Nursing Keyser Campus Chair, recently participated in the WVU Potomac State College Women’s “HerStory” Month panel.

Hosted March 21, the panel featured local women who are making a difference, including Dr. Shaprio, Dinah Courrier, Dayla Harvey, Shelley Friend and Tifani Fisher.

Shapiro discussed her pathway into nursing and how she has helped develop nursing programs.

“I was honored to be invited as a member of this panel of strong women leaders in our Keyser community,” Shapiro said. “I was sincerely humbled by all their stories and left the event with a renewed sense of empowerment and energy.”

She added, “It was very moving to reflect on and be able to tell my personal story, but this was also an opportunity to represent women in nursing science and leadership, and highlight the difference we make in education, research, service, and practice every day.”
