L. Clark Hansbarger Lecture
The L. Clark Hansbarger Lecture will take place on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Health Sciences auditorium at the WVU Charleston campus.
The topic of the lecture will be “When an Older Adult is Admitted to a Hospital in America,” and will be presented by Michael L. Malone, MD, Medical Director of Aurora Senior Services and Aurora at Home, Program Director for Aurora Health Care’s Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program, and Clinical Adjunct Professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Milkwaukee, WI.
Dr. Malone will describe the unique vulnerabilities of acutely ill older adults and geriatrics “best practice” models to improve care for acutely ill older patients, as well as discuss practical strategies to train our professional workforce in principles of geriatrics and highlight approaches to improve care for older adults-which do not require a geriatrician.
The lecture event will begin with exhibitors and refreshments from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm in the WVU Charleston campus health sciences lobby at 3110 MacCorkle Avenue SE, Charleston, WV, with the lecture to follow. The event will also be available to view over live feed at: http://camcinstitute.org/video/live and accreditation will be available for physicians, pharmacy, nursing and dieticians.
