New Dentistry LEDRS Scholarship awarded to four students

Four West Virginia University School of Dentistry students are the recipients of a scholarship being awarded for the first time this academic year.

Sidney Fix, Tyler Linkous, Josey Moore and Hannah Stapleton have been selected for the inaugural LEDRS Scholarship. The awards, made possible by the generosity of dedicated alumni donors, recognizes students’ Leadership, Ethics, Dignity, Respect and Service.

Linkous, of Morgantown, Class of 2026, and Stapleton, of Lavalette, Class of 2027, are students in the Doctor of Dental Surgery program. Fix, a senior from Staunton, Virginia, and Moore, a junior from St. Marys, are enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program.

The LEDRS Scholarship provide financial awards to students who demonstrate leadership qualities, concern for human welfare and dignity, engagement in community and/or outreach initiatives, strong ethics and values, and an overall commitment to combine education and service to improve the lives of those with whom they interact.

Eligible individuals include second-, third- or fourth-year dental and dental hygiene students, with awards being presented to students in both programs. A selection committee reviews candidates, making recommendations to the dean of the School of Dentistry, who provides final approval.
