Open enrollment underway for health insurance through Affordable Care Act Marketplace

Open enrollment for health insurance coverage through the Affordable Care Act Marketplace is underway. The enrollment period, open through January 15, 2023, allows individuals to apply for new health coverage or change their health plan for 2023. For coverage to start January 1, 2023, the enrollment process must be completed by December 15, 2022.

By visiting HealthCare.gov, West Virginians can read important information, print checklists and watch videos meant to guide applicants through the enrollment process.

Those who are already enrolled, or previously did not find a plan that met their needs, are encouraged to review coverage options to determine if a new plan may better fit their household’s needs and budget.

Individuals and families across the Mountain State can receive free assistance understanding health insurance options and applying for coverage through the West Virginia Navigator program by visiting ACANavigator.com, calling 1-844-WV-CARES (1-844-982-2737) or 304-356-5834 or scheduling an appointment at the Charleston, Fairmont, Huntington or Martinsburg office. Certified specialists are also available at walk-in events held throughout the state, including Fairmont (Nov. 17), Hinton (Nov. 18), Beckley (Nov. 19), Elkins (Nov. 29) and Martinsburg (Dec. 7).

The West Virginia Navigator program is operated by First Choice Services and is funded by a grant from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
