Student leaders embrace lessons from dental association meeting

American Student Dental Association Executives for West Virginia University School of Dentistry had the opportunity to travel to Denver, Colorado, to attend ASDA’s 2024 Annual Session. Annual Session is an opportunity for ASDA representatives to vote on the initiatives of the association, network with other dental students in ASDA, and receive valuable chapter training.

I was fortunate enough to attend ASDA’s Annual Session this year and represent WVU SoD. Through this opportunity I was able to build on ASDA advocacy while meeting new people and creating many new connections. My favorite part of the weekend was seeing all of the successful chapters being recognized at the Gold Crown Awards and learning more about their accomplishments through ASDA. ASDA is a dynamic organization designed for students pursuing careers in dentistry in the United States. Being a member of ASDA allows students to access valuable resources, such as study materials and research publications, as well as opportunities for hands-on learning through workshops and clinical experiences.

Being an active member of ASDA allows dental students to network with peers across the country as well as established professionals in the field, fostering mentorship relationships and opening doors to plenty of future career opportunities. Not only this, but ASDA advocates for student interests in providing a platform for students to voice their concerns and be a part of positive changes within the dental community.
