WVU Charleston Campus’s Dr. Youmna Mousattat Promoted to Associate Professor

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Congratulations to Youmna Mousattat, MD an assistant professor of pediatrics at West Virginia University’s School of Medicine Charleston Campus, who has been recommended for promotion to the rank of Associate Professor, Clinical Track, in the Department of Pediatrics, Charleston Campus effective July 1, 2021.

In her notification of the advancement, Maryanne Reed, WVU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs wrote on behalf of the WVU Board of Governors and WVU President E. Gordon Gee that the “promotion recognizes the high quality of your past performance and indicates our confidence you will continue to contribute to the University.”

The review noted the clinical work of Dr. Mousattat as a hospitalist at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital, as well as her service as Medical Director of Inpatient Services for and the Chief of Pediatrics.  She has been recognized with the CAMC “Heart and Soul Award” for her compassion and exemplary performance in caring for hospitalized children. Heart & Soul is a recognition program designed to identify and recognize employees who contribute to a culture of excellence at CAMC or who promote a culture of excellence in service delivery with those they serve.

In her academic work, Dr. Mousattat provides didactic teaching and clinical supervision for medical students and residents, earning her 2012, 2015, and 2016 Attending of the Year Awards.

Research work was also recognized in the promotion, including the authorship of peer-reviewed publications, as well as local and national presentations.  Dr. Mousattat received CAMC Research Day Awards for Mentor and WVU-CAMC Resident Collaboration in 2015 and 2018.

Board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Mousattat is a graduate of the University of Aleppo in Syria and completed her pediatric residency at Charleston Area Medical Center/WVU Charleston Campus.
