WVU Health Sciences students demonstrate Mountaineer values
Across West Virginia University, the campus community is driven by our Mountaineer values – service, curiosity, respect, accountability and appreciation. The WVU Health Sciences Student Advisory Board recently put those values into action by showing their appreciation for the facilities management team.
The student board members packaged snacks, stress relief items and other gifts into grab-and-go bags to show their gratitude while accommodating the facilities team’s busy schedules. They also included a handwritten thank-you note in the bags to express their appreciation on behalf of all students on the Health Sciences Campus.
“The facilities employees are essential to HSC. Without them, we wouldn’t have functional facilities in which to work and study,” Samantha Thompson, chair of the Student Advisory Board and Ph.D. candidate in the WVU School of Medicine, said. “The facilities employees do so much at HSC, they definitely deserve the recognition and appreciation.”
Thompson and the Student Advisory Board hope to create more opportunities in the future to recognize the facilities management team and others in the Health Sciences community.
“I would love to continue this project with other groups at HSC, and while most of our projects involve the SAB members, we’d be open to including other students as well!”
The Student Advisory Board includes representatives from all five health schools — Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health – that help cultivate an effective network of communication between health sciences students and administration.
