WVU Nursing students to lead free Community Health Fair in Beckley

A newly formed student organization on the WVU Tech campus, Faith Community Health, is hosting a community health fair Nov. 8 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Beckley Presbyterian Church. The event is free and open to the public.

Attendees can visit multiple stations where they can receive BMI screenings, glucose checks, hemoglobin A1C checks, blood pressure screenings, as well as mental health related information.

Formed by undergraduate nursing students at the WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus, the organization aims to support and improve holistic health in southern West Virginia.

“It is important for people to participate in this event to improve their overall health and wellbeing by being knowledgeable about their health,” said Lauren Harrah, a senior in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.

“Also, we can achieve our goal by promoting health awareness through this event by reaching people at the ground level.”
