WVU School of Nursing celebrates outstanding licensure pass-rates among BSN graduates

The West Virginia University School of Nursing recently received official results from Mountain Measurements of the new NextGen National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN), the nationwide examination for the licensing of registered nurses.

The results include a 100% first-time pass rate for fall 2023 graduates from the Morgantown Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, BS/BA to BSN program, and the Keyser BSN program.

“These pass rates are a testament to our expert faculty,” said Dr. Tara Hulsey, Dean and E. Jane Martin Endowed Professor. “They are preparing our nursing students with the knowledge, clinical skills and compassion needed for success.”

Graduates from the Beckley BSN program earned a 94% first-time pass rate, an increase of eight percent since the previous year. The benchmark for NCLEX-RN first attempt pass rate is 80% in West Virginia.

“I am especially proud of our Beckley Campus for their improved scores,” Dean Hulsey said. “The innovative teaching methods of the faculty and the dedication of the students is evident.”

In part due to licensure pass rates, the WVU School of Nursing has been named by U.S. News and World Report for the past two years as one of the top 100 undergraduate nursing programs in the nation.
