WVU Student Nurses’ Association raises funds for childhood cancer organization during Hollywood Game Night

The West Virginia University Student Nurses' Association raised money for WV Kids Cancer Crusaders during a hilarious "Hollywood Game Night" on Thursday, Sept. 29.

Featuring WVU School of Nursing faculty and students, two teams battled it out during fun-filled mini-games, such as Hold My Balls, Trading Faces, TV ID, How Do You Doo-Et?, Block Busters and more.

The "Tacky Tourists" sang their hearts out during the game How Do You Doo-Et?

The “Tacky Tourists” team was comprised of professors Brad Phillips, Stacy Russell, Tonya Thompson and senior student Lex Collins, while the “Psychic Professors” team featured professors Stacy Huber, Marnie Reven, Beth Stiles and sophomore student Bella Botero.

Raffle prizes were also available, thanks to donated items and gift cards from Suburban Lanes, Kegler's, Zeke's, The Grind, WVU Basketball, WVU Bookstore and The WOW Factory.

The "Psychic Professors" garnered lots of laughs during the Charades segment of Hollywood Game Night.

“September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and WV Kids Cancer Crusaders is a great organization that helps families here in West Virginia,” said Andrew Johnson, host of the game show and SNA vice president. “They’re a very family-oriented organization, so we wanted to do what we could for them.”

Teams had to use their communication skills to assemble the names of popular movies during the game Block Busters.

Johnson, who previously hosted a Family Feud FUNdraiser with the School of Nursing, said he’s always surprised by the goofiness and the fun of the events.

“We’re raising money for a great cause, but we’re having fun while doing it.”

Christy Barnhart launched confetti at the teams during one of the mini-games of Hollywood Game Night.

The event raised $100 for WV Kids Cancer Crusaders, which will be paired with funds raised during the Sept. 15 fundraiser at Applebee’s.
