Public Health student participates in Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol

Nathaniel Palmer, who originally began as a School of Nursing student but found his home in the School of Public Health, recently presented at Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol.

The event provides students the opportunity to present their original scholarly works during a poster session and to talk with legislators about their findings. Forty-nine West Virginia University students representing the Morgantown and Beckley campuses were invited to participate in the event.

For his research poster “Spiritual Well-being in Appalachian Family Caregivers,” Palmer was mentored by Ubolrat Piamjariyakul. His study aimed to fill gaps in information needed to sustain caregivers’ spiritual well-being while managing home heart failure and dementia care.
