Enhancing Diversity
The Office of Research and Graduate Education is committed to enhancing the diversity of students in our graduate programs. We follow the National Institutes of Health categorization of diversity.
We practice this by seeking to recruit, admit, and retain students in the following three classes of diversity:
- Class A: Individuals from racial and ethnic groups underrepresented in health-related sciences on a national basis;
- Class B: Individuals with disability, who are defined as those with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities; and
- Class C: Individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. This includes but is not limited to, students who are first generation and that are from defined rural areas.
