Is the GRE required?
No, we are no longer including the GRE as part of our admissions requirements.
I've already applied but don't know my status. How can I find this?
You were sent your login credentials and the URL to follow your status after submission of your electronic application. Follow the link provided and login using your email address and the password you selected in your application. You will then be able to view your status, as well as track the the arrival of the additional materials that are required of each applicant, i.e. exam scores, reference letters, and transcripts.
Can I work while pursing my degree?
Graduate study is a full-time commitment. Any outside employment will detract from your academic efforts and is strongly discouraged.
How much time does it take to process my application?
Application review can begin with receipt of a personal statement, resume/CV, unofficial transcripts, official English Language Proficiency Exam scores (if applicable), and three letters of recommendations. We interview domestic prospective graduate students from December through April. Prospective international students will be interviewed via telephone or personally if they reside in the U.S.
Can I pursue both a Masters Degree and PhD Degree at the same time?
Most students enroll initially as a PhD student. A few students complete the MS degree before enrolling as a PhD student.
Is a Masters Degree required before I can be considered for your PhD program(s)?
No. You do not need to complete an MS degree before admittance to the PhD Program in Biomedical Sciences.
Will you accept part time students in the PhD program(s)?
Rarely, and it is not advised. However, we have accepted a few students who wish to pursue their PhD degree on a part time basis.
Do you offer Spring admissions?
Spring admissions are only offered on a special-case basis. Such a case occurs when transferring with a newly hired faculty member. Generally, all first-year students begin in August.
When is the application deadline?
We highly recommend applying early. The application deadline is December 1st. In order to evaluate your application for admission, all required documents must be received by the office of admissions. Please be sure to have all required application materials (test scores, transcripts etc) sent directly to the office of admissions:

Can I submit photocopies of MCAT and/or TOEFL scores with my application and send the originals later?
No, official scores must be reported to the institution directly from the testing agency:
OEFL or IELTS (for international applicants): Results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) are required and must be sent to WVU directly from the Educational Testing Service. The WVU Institution Code is R5904.
