Serving rural communities in West Virginia

The WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health serves communities and students to cultivate the health and well-being of rural West Virginians.

Students

We offer many opportunities for students to positively impact rural communities in West Virginia through rural health outreach, project R.E.A.C.H (Rural Education Alliance for Community Health), our rural health interest group, and WVU Rural Health Day.

Financial Incentives

Financial incentive programs typically provide a cash award in exchange for agreeing to practice for a specified amount of time in a primary care setting in a rural or underserved area of the state. These programs often require that the award be used to pay off student loan debt.
