Accreditation Statement

The David and JoAnn Shaw Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety (STEPS) has attained full re accreditation by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare’s (SSH) Accreditation Council. While STEPS has been accredited in Core, Teaching and Assessment since 2014, STEPS is the first and only center in West Virginia to now be accredited by SSH in Systems Integration, Research, and Human Simulation as well. Less than 3% of the over 700 centers registered with SSH in the world are accredited in all 5 areas.

STEPS has also attained full accreditation in Human Simulation by the Association for Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) Accreditation Review Council. STEPS was selected as one of five programs to participate in the inaugural accreditation cycle
