The Transgenic Animal Core Facility houses specialized equipment for transgenic and chimeric mouse production, the rederivation and cryopreservation of existing mouse strains and for the surgical transfer of embryos.

A specialized microinjection workstation for the injection of DNA and Embryonic Stem Cells into mouse embryos and the incubation of mouse embryos is comprised of the following equipment:

For the isolation, incubation and surgical implantation of manipulated and rederived embryos, the TACF lab is equipped with:

  • Leica Mz12.5 stereo microscope with video Sony color monitor

  • MDS Matrx isoflurane anesthesia machine with a Matrx VIP 3000 precision vaporizer

  • Inotech Steriguard 250 Glass Bead Sterilizer
