Teaching Scholars Summer Institute
The Teaching Scholars Summer Institute has been an essential part of the faculty development program for the past two decades at the WVU Health Sciences Center.
This week-long program held annually in early June of each academic year aims to give interested faculty a broad overview of key concepts in health professions education and is open to both faculty at WVU and other institutions. This short, intensive format allows busy health professions faculty to access high yield faculty development topics in a compressed period of time, thereby minimizing their time away from work while helping to maximize their potential as educators.
Participants will learn about exciting topics, including:
- Intergenerational challenges in education
- How to make your large group teaching stand out
- Clinical Teaching
- Creating valid assessments
- How to flip the classroom
- Incorporating digital technologies
- Creating your own educational portfolio to help advance your career
