Culinary Medicine and Lifestyle Track

The Culinary Medicine and Lifestyle Track (CMLT) prepares future physicians with training in nutrition, food preparation, lifestyle medicine, and chronic disease prevention. Through hands-on instruction in culinary medicine, physical activity, stress management, and sleep, students gain practical skills to support patient-centered care and improved health outcomes.

Research

CLMT was developed in response to limited longitudinal lifestyle medicine training in medical education and represents one of the first four-year programs of its kind. A peer-reviewed study in Medical Education Online details the development, implementation, and early outcomes of the curriculum, which integrates nutrition, culinary medicine, physical activity, stress management, and restorative sleep across approximately 300 hours of training. Findings highlight hands-on learning experiences and positive educational and professional benefits for graduates.
