School of Public Health faculty member earns recognition at WVCTSI annual meeting

Dr. Gordon Smith, Stuart M. and Joyce N. Robbins Distinguished Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, was awarded best research poster at the 2025 West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute “Roads to Research Opportunities for Rural Communities” Annual Meeting.

The meeting was held from Feb. 24-26 at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, West Virginia. WVCTSI leadership and members from across the state gathered to discuss innovative efforts and initiatives that are driving clinical and translational science in the Mountain State.

Poster awards were given for top student, early-stage investigator and senior investigator. Smith’s research poster, titled “Near Real-time Drug Surveillance Using Syringe Residue,” received best poster award in the senior investigator category.
