WVU Participates in Annual CAMC Teddy Bear Fair
Faculty and staff of WVU Physicians of Charleston and the School of Nursing at WVU Tech participated in the Teddy Bear Fair at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital Saturday. The annual event helps children learn about health and wellness in a fun, non-threatening way.
Tabitha Withrow, a clinical patient services representative with WVU Physicians of Charleston Pediatrics, volunteered at the fair because she said she loves where she works wanted to share the caring atmosphere she feels at work with the community.
“It’s hard to see your cancer patients come in sick, but the rewarding part is when they come back healed and they’re always smiling,” Withrow said. “ It makes us brighten up too.”
One patient visited the WVUPC table and had her blood pressure taken, with the help of a toy to make it less scary. Withrow said hopefully the next time she comes for an appointment she won’t be as fearful.
