Protect Against Flu
Following two mild flu seasons, due in part to COVID-19 safety guidelines such as masking and social distancing, experts are predicting more widespread infection this year. While seasonal flu viruses are detected year-round, it’s recommended to get vaccinated by the end of October in order to provide protection during the peak of flu season in fall and winter. Every year, millions of people get sick, hundreds of thousands are hospitalized and tens of thousands of people die from flu.
Individuals can visit their primary care provider, local pharmacy or health department or other healthcare provider to receive the vaccine. Students, faculty and staff on the Morgantown Campus can visit WVU Medicine Student Health or WVU Medicine Urgent Care during regular business hours or stop by a flu shot clinic on select days at the WVU Student Recreation Center.
Both the WVU Medicine Student Health and WVU Medicine Urgent Care clinics also offer COVID-19 vaccination opportunities.
