Medical Education Fellowship Program
Join educators from across the Health Sciences Center to explore innovative teaching practices, discuss real-world educational challenges, and earn free continuing education credits.
The Health Professions Grand Rounds Series is a collaborative educational program designed to bring together faculty, clinicians, trainees, and educational leaders who are passionate about advancing health professions education.
Hosted through a partnership between the Office of Faculty Development, the Department of Medical Education, the Office of Interprofessional Education, and the Medical Education Fellowship Program, the series features expert speakers from West Virginia University and institutions across the country.
Each session explores innovative teaching strategies, emerging trends in medical education, educational scholarship, and practical approaches that strengthen learning across the health professions.
One of the highlights of this year's series is our continued Educational Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) sessions.
These highly interactive discussions use de-identified educational cases to examine complex teaching and leadership challenges in academic medicine.
Participants collaborate to:
Analyze challenging educational situations
Identify opportunities for improvement
Explore leadership and communication strategies
Review institutional policies and best practices
Develop practical solutions that can be applied in their own educational settings
Educational M&M provides a safe environment for shared learning while strengthening decision-making and educational leadership skills.

Health professions students interested in academic medicine
Build relationships with educators across the Health Sciences Center while strengthening an interdisciplinary community dedicated to educational excellence.
Explore evidence-based teaching strategies, emerging educational technologies, curriculum innovation, assessment methods, and best practices in health professions education.
Participate in Educational M&M sessions that examine authentic educational challenges and promote collaborative problem-solving.
