Science Symposia
Sharing Student Research
HSTA students don’t just complete research — they share it with their communities.
Community Presentations
Each local HSTA region hosts community events where students:
Present their research findings
Practice their public speaking and presentation skills
Educate family members, neighbors, and local leaders on issues that matter to their communities and the state
These events are attended by parents, relatives, and community members, giving students a chance to give back through knowledge and advocacy. They also serve as excellent practice for the larger statewide event.
State Science Symposia
In early spring, students advance to the HSTA State Science Symposia, held on college campuses across West Virginia. At the symposia, students:
Present their research to a broader audience
Connect with other HSTA participants from across the state
Explore college campuses and learn about their unique programs and facilities
These experiences help students grow as communicators, researchers, and future college students — while celebrating their hard work and community impact.
