Provider - DDS
Description: The Provider – DDS performs general dentistry in a public health setting. Examines teeth, gums, and other oral tissues, makes diagnoses, and formulates plan for treatment. Supervises work of dental hygienist and dental assistant. Promotes oral health education with patients. Works in a manner consistent with NRHA mission, goals, and standard of conduct and care.
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:
- Graduate degree of DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school.
- Must be licensed by the WV Board of Dental Examiners.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums, and related oral structures.
- Perform routine and complex dental procedures, including cleanings, fillings, crowns, extractions, and other restorations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and conditions.
- Provide patients with education on oral hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Recommend appropriate dental care routines and preventive treatments such as sealants or fluoride applications.
- Promote regular dental checkups and oral health awareness.
- Conduct and interpret dental X-rays, diagnostic tests, and oral examinations.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including medical histories and treatment documentation.
- Adhere to all infection control, sterilization, and occupational safety protocols.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant clinical environment.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to maintain licensure and stay current with advances in dentistry.
- Participate in audits, quality assurance activities, and performance reviews as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting, some bending and stretching.
- Lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Requires full range of motion, manual dexterity to utilize dental instruments, hand-eye coordination and normal range of hearing and vision.
Working Environment: Work is performed in a clinical environment. Involves contact with staff, patients, and external agencies. Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to a clinical environment. Work may involve long periods of high stress conditions. Utilizes company provided systems to perform tasks within the scope of their position and does not work outside of the scope of their position within systems, such as but not limited to EMR/HIS/Payroll/Time and Attendance/Payroll.
